(Be sure to scroll down past the photos for the full description of this auction) Up for auction with NO RESERVE is a very nice dated 1870 English Victorian Silver Plate 4 piece Tea and Coffee Service. The Service is quite exceptional in design and quality, with some of the finest Bright Cut and Engraved patterns I have ever seen, literally covering almost the entire surface of every piece ! The Form of the pieces is also purely Victorian and a form you seldom see in a complete service. The Set consists of the following a Coffee Pot measuring approx 8-1/2" tall by 9-3/4" long, a Teapot measuring approx 6-1/4" tall by 10" long, a cream jug measuring 4-3/4" tall and a Sugar Bowl measuring 8" across the handles. The service is a rare find, but the condition is not 100%, the finial on the coffee pot is missing a spacer and the whole set shows wear to the base metal throughout. That said there is no bad dents and certainly no cracks, holes or repairs, so if you chose to have it replated it would look absolutely stunning ! I like my antiques to look antique, so I personally would just display it as found. The insides of the pots need a good scrubbing and would probably lighten up a lot with a bleach soak, then I am sure the service could actually be used as well. The Service shows a British Registry Mark on the bottom dating it to 1870 and though I could not find a maker's mark, this is quite typical for earlier Victorian English Silver Plate and judging by the quality of this set, they must have been a fine period firm.
