Dating from the late 1800’s, this pot features an aesthetic frieze of intricate floral banners at the shoulder and a floral vine with birds engraved on the body. One side of the pot has a vacant center field where a monogram could be added, but this piece was never monogrammed. The ball shaped finial has four panels with a single daisy in each, while the spout looks almost like a snake. This large coffee pot holds 7 cups of liquid. It stands 10 7/16" (27.8 cm) tall, and has a full width of 9 5/8" (24.3 cm), measured handle to spout. This handsome pot is in very good condition and has a brilliant shine. The silver plating is not the original however. This piece, obviously treasured by a former owner, was re-silvered at some point. The current silver surface is in great shape with no areas of wear. There are a few tiny shallow little dings (inside the round vacant cartouche area), and a very small number of minor scratches. The edge of the shoulder has a few very minor scrapes, but nothing that detracts. The inside surfaces of this coffee are badly stained and pitted. The opening is too small to get my hand in, so I have cleaned it with a bottle brush. The lid closes tightly, but the hinge has some play in it (wobbles side to side). This old coffee pot displays beautifully and would make a fine addition to any collection of antique silverplate.
